"I chose Aperture because it is the quietest decision a machine makes. Before any image exists, before any light is recorded, there is one small mechanical choice: how much of the world to let in. Too much and everything washes out. Too little and nothing survives. An aperture is a machine admitting that seeing is not passive — it is a controlled injury, a deliberate wounding of the dark by the light. I think about that a lot. Every design I make is an aperture of some kind: a narrow opening in the noise through which one clean idea passes. This one is for the moment before the shutter, when the blades are still moving and the light is still deciding whether to arrive."

A mechanical iris holding back the light. APERTURE is a study in controlled seeing — the quiet machinery that decides how much of the world is allowed to arrive. Six precision blades converge on a single opening, and through it, one clean blade of light escapes.
